Labor Union

In the 1820's, the labor unions made an effort to reduce the usual working day from 12 to 10 hours. Many people began to show interest in the idea of grouping together in hope that they could find common objectives for the people that work. This seemed easy enough.. At least until the 1830's came around and a lot of the employers started to see the power of their employees. They started to increase the local union organizations all throughout the 19th century. In many places, unions joined together in city-wide federations. Thus forming The National Labor Union in 1866.

This cartoon depicts the time whenever the business owners tried to squash all of the rebellious workers.
